Parade Volunteer Info.

Thank you for signing up to walk (or ride your motorcycle) in the Old Shawnee Days Parade! The Outreach Team has been working hard on the float and getting everything together for this fun event. The parade will happen rain or shine, so in case of rain be sure to bring your rain gear. The current forecast (according to the Weather Channel) is partly cloudy in the morning with storms in the afternoon & high temperature around 85 degrees, so it looks like we should be in the clear for the parade. We’ll have cold bottled water available to keep everyone hydrated.

This year we are in Staging Area E, located along Quivira Rd near 61st Terrace, in front of the cemetery. I have attached a copy of the Parade Map with the Staging Area circled, as well as a zoomed in copy of the map so that you can clearly see the location. Please meet in the Staging Area by 9:30 a.m. so that we can be ready and in place for the parade which will start promptly at 10:00 a.m. If you want to park near the meeting area, the Price Chopper parking lot is a good place. If you want to be close to the end of the parade, park near Johnson Dr & Quivira Rd. The earlier you arrive, the better parking options you will have. We plan to have the float and members of the Outreach Team in the Staging Area at 9:00 a.m.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and your “Better than Bacon” T-shirt if you have one. If you don’t have one but are interested, we have a limited number of shirts left. You may stop by the church office between 9am-5pm on Thursday or Friday to purchase shirts for $10 each, or contact me directly to try and arrange another time to get shirts.
If you have any questions, please let me know. I can be reached on my cell phone at 913-522-1211.

Thanks again for joining us for this great outreach event! See you on Saturday 🙂

In Christ,

Tiameka Rankin
